Northwest Texas Healthcare System Expands Services at New Therapy Center
Northwest Texas Healthcare System recently opened the NWTHS Therapy Center at 2213 S. Georgia St. in Amarillo, with expanded services including new equipment for neuro-rehabilitation patients. The NWTHS Therapy Center offers physical, occupational and speech therapy including specialized services for balance disorders, hand therapy and lymphedema.
Uniquely partnered with the Sister-Bear Foundation, the NWTHS Therapy Center provides the community with the Panhandle’s first robotic neuro-rehab machine, the Lokomat®. A Lokomat is a robot-assisted training device that enables effective and intensive training to increase the strength of muscles and the range of motion of joints to improve walking. Before now, patients had to travel over 300 miles to receive the benefits of this type of therapy.
